Start your day traveling to Honfleur, the cradle of the impressionist movement. A charming little town situated at the mouth of the Seine that immediately enchants the visitors by revealing its charming fishing and sailing port, its old picturesque narrow streets, and its old timber-framed or slate-fronted houses. Wander around the harbour and up and down the wiggly cobble stone streets full of jewelry and antique shops. Discover the Sainte-Catherine church, a magnificent wooden building of the 15th century, the largest one in France made of wood!
Continue your tour to Le Havre (french for 'the harbour'), a modern and surprising city with an immense port. The city is a remarkable example of post-war architecture since it was heavily bombed during the Battle of Normandy. Designed by Auguste Perret, Le Havre has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. Don't miss modern St Joseph's Church by Perret and the hanging gardens with fabulous views overlooking the sea and the port.
Take the road that will lead you to the Alabaster Coast (Côte d’Albâtre) where Etretat shines brightest with its famous chalk cliffs. Bordered by a dike-promenade (Perrey), the pebble beach is framed by the breathtaking cliffs. No wonder then that Etretat attracted and inspired a number of painters and writers. While in Etretat don't forget a must see: Les Jardins d'Etretat, the beautiful Etretat gardens on top of Amont Hill that mix nature with contemporary sculpture, a real natural artwork! Stop by the shop La Mer à Boire, a specialty shop for foodies.
Finish your coastal Normandy tour at Fécamp which has long been the "capital" of French Newfoundland for cod fishing. The city also has tourist arguments with its beautiful pebble beach, its classification City of art and history and its flagship museum, that of the Fisheries. Don't miss the Benedictine Palace, built in neo-Gothic, neo-Renaissance styles for Alexandre Le Grand, the entrepreneur who developed the herbal drink, Benedictine. You can visit and have a drink tasting here, ask us for more information.
