The Graves wine region has been a major winemaking hub since the Middle Ages, when it first became known for its claret. Now considered the birthplace of Bordeaux’s high-caliber red wines, Graves has had a lofty reputation for centuries.
These wines are among the most typical of the Gironde. Indeed, many are recognized by their scent of violets, accompanied by a note of smoke. We also discover red fruits and notes ranging from game to flowers, including spices, mocha or roasting. Today, the Graves produce both red wines and dry whites.
You will meet your guide, who is a wine professional, in an exceptional setting and start your bike ride in an idyllic landscape among the vineyards, near Bordeaux, in the Graves region.
Enjoy riding throughout the vineyards of one of the Grand Crus routes where you will visit exceptional Châteaux. You will appreciate nature and the maturity of the grapes as well as the age of the wines while your guide explains viticulture and oenology. You will also learn to recognize Merlot from Cabernet Sauvignon and learn a few words of the terroirs of Bordeaux. Your guide will take you inside the Châteaux for guided visits.
